The river spirit, known in Japanese legend as 'Kawataro,' is a mythical creature or unidentified lifeform often ranked alongside demons and gods as one of Japan's most famous yōkai. To capture this elusive being, we visited a man who claimed to have seen a Kawataro deep in the mountains. His testimony shocked us—apparently, only female members of the river tribe exist, and several human men have already been seduced by these female Kawataro. Was this man telling the truth?
